Great service.
Both agents who visited our property were friendly, knowledgeable and respectful. Both seemed to genuinely care about resolving our pest problem.
Only thing preventing a five star review was the small Initial problem with appointment booking, although communication after that was smooth.
Would recommend.

Countrywide Pest Control did a fantastic job of dealing with a wasp nest at my home. The operator delt with the wasp nest so quickly and efficiently. He first explained everything about the procedure, both during and after the nest was treated, even putting out my food bin for me so I wouldn't have to come out while the wasps were active still. Excellent job.

The Importance Of Pest Control For Schools

For education providers such as schools, universities, academies, colleges and others, pest activity can cause significant disruption and issues. Vermin can cause significant distress if found by pupils, and lead to class disruption.

With many pupils now carrying mobile phones, it can be easy for them to get proof of a pest infestation, which could significantly damage your school’s reputation. Additionally, pest activity could lead to compliance issues, especially if vermin are found in high-risk spaces, such as food preparation areas.

To ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Education (School Premises) Regulations 1999, Food Safety Act 1990 and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, headteachers and site managers need to ensure that they do everything in their power to protect their school premises from pests.

If a pest infestation does occur, schools need to be equipped to deal with the situation quickly to reduce the impact it has on the provision of education services.

At Countrywide, we offer pest control for schools as part of our commercial pest control services, and can tailor our support to meet your site’s unique needs. That might mean offering a discreet service outside of normal school hours or checking specific areas of your school buildings to find and seal entry points of unwanted visitors.

For schools across Newbury, Berkshire, Basingstoke, Reading, Portsmouth, Woking, and throughout the South East, Countrywide can help protect public health, reduce damage caused by vermin and create the ideal environment for learning.

Common Pests Found In School Buildings

While every education provider and school site is unique, some pests commonly found in school grounds and buildings include:

• Rodents: Rodents, including rats, mice and even squirrels can make their way into school buildings, especially residential spaces, which they often access through roof spaces. Once inside, rodents can cause extensive property damage and even pose a fire hazard if they chew through live electrical wiring.
• Wasps: During the summer, you may notice large numbers of wasps on your school grounds, which could indicate a wasp nest has been built on your site. Wasps are highly dangerous to children, especially if they’re allergic to wasp stings, so it’s vital that you get fast treatment.
• Parasites: Parasitic pests, such as bed bugs and fleas, often spread quickly through schools, as they enter from homes and can then hide deep inside soft furniture. It can be hard to treat these minute insects, which is why professional pest removal is often required.
• Flies: In food preparation areas, such as school kitchens and canteens, flies, along with other insect pests, such as cockroaches and stored product insects, can spread diseases and bacteria. These pests can cause a health issue for staff and pupils, so you need to work with a pest control company like Countrywide to control pests before the infestation becomes significant and causes a public health outbreak.
• Birds: For large school premises, particularly those with flat roofs, birds such as pigeons and seagulls often build nests and leave behind droppings, which can spread airborne diseases. Birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, so you need to use professional bird proofing services, such as bird netting and bird spike installation, to stop pigeons and other birds from gaining access to your school buildings.

If you notice any signs of pest problems like these or any other vermin at your school, then you need professional pest control services. Contact us to book your school pest management visit.
