Great service. Both agents who visited our property were friendly, knowledgeable and respectful. Both seemed to genuinely care about resolving our pest problem. Only thing preventing a five star review was the small Initial problem with appointment booking, although communication after that was smooth. Would recommend.

Countrywide Pest Control did a fantastic job of dealing with a wasp nest at my home. The operator delt with the wasp nest so quickly and efficiently. He first explained everything about the procedure, both during and after the nest was treated, even putting out my food bin for me so I wouldn't have to come out while the wasps were active still. Excellent job.

Birds are very common in the UK, and they’re generally not an issue until they build their nests on your property. While you may not mind one or two birds nesting on your roof or balcony, if this number increases, they will become a nuisance.

Over time, guano will build up, which can be extremely slippery, nesting material will begin to collect in guttering, and mites could invade your property. In addition, birds can carry many diseases that can spread to humans.

Thankfully, Countrywide Pest Control has the solution. We offer bird netting installation throughout Newbury, Berkshire and the South of the UK, providing fast solutions for buildings and structures. Our team can help you create the perfect bird control strategy, so contact us today.

What Is Bird Netting?

Bird netting is an effective bird control method to stop birds from roosting on your property. It is quick and easy to install with incredible results, and it works by creating a physical barrier between a bird and its favourite nesting spot.

The application of this pest control solution is generally across larger surface areas due to strength and design, and we can tailor this to your requirements.

Bird netting can be applied to many different locations, industries and properties. For example:

  • Domestic homes, i.e. gardens, ponds, balconies, solar panels and roofs
  • Commercial car parks
  • Supermarkets or shopping centres
  • Warehouses and factories
  • Sports stadiums
  • Bridges, statues, etc.

If you have identified birds on your land or property, contact us today and book your free home survey.

Bird netting installation in Oxfordshire

Bird Netting Material

Bird netting is constructed using various synthetic materials to provide a durable medium to control birds. Depending on the application and location of the bird netting, we may use a nylon net due to its lightweight properties. In some cases, a UV polyethylene or flame-resistant material might be used for higher protection in more industrial settings.

Types of Bird Netting

Pest birds, including seagulls, pigeons, starlings and sparrows, can be incredibly destructive and irritating. Each bird varies in size; therefore, it is important to install the correct-sized netting for maximum protection and proofing.

The larger the net, the less visible it is and the less susceptible it is to the wind. As a result, we will install the netting based on your pest for the best results. All our bird netting can be cut to the exact size of your property. Our bird mesh sizes are:

  • Seagull 75mm Netting Required
  • Pigeon 50mm Netting Required
  • Starling 28mm Netting Required
  • Sparrow 19mm Netting Required

Finding suitable bird netting for your project is crucial, as you need to make sure that it can withstand an assault from any kind of bird. Larger birds like gulls and pigeons need a different sized netting to smaller nuisance birds, so it pays to work with bird proofing experts like Countrywide for your bird netting installation project. Benefits of Bird Netting

Bird netting, also known as anti-bird netting or pigeon netting, is an effective solution to bird pest control for domestic and commercial properties. It can help you keep pest birds away from your property and improve safety. As a business owner, you are also legally obligated to keep your premises free from all pests under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act of 1949. Therefore, implementing an effective solution for bird and pest control is vital.

This netting acts as a visual deterrent and physical barrier to stop the birds from reaching their favourite nesting spot. Furthermore, once these birds realise they can no longer access the roof, balcony or warehouse, they will seek shelter elsewhere. As a result, this will keep your property free from droppings, diseases, costly repairs and nesting material. Other benefits of bird netting include:

Discreet Design

Bird netting has a fantastic ability to blend into the surroundings, which makes it highly unobtrusive. This is particularly important for listed buildings, venues or commercial properties that want to deter birds without distracting from the beauty of the exterior. Countywide has the skills needed to cover your property unobtrusively to offer the ultimate in discreet bird proofing.

Versatile

Another benefit of bird netting is the ability to install it in almost every location, big or small. So whether you have a warehouse which requires bird netting on the roof or a pond with Koi fish, this netting is flexible and customisable. Its adaptability and versatility can also be applied to the design of the nets. Depending on your particular pest, different-sized nets can be installed to ensure effective and successful pest control against birds of all species.

Economical

Bird and pigeon netting is multifaceted and can positively impact your finances in the long term. Although you have the initial investment of the bird net installation, you will save time and money cleaning up after these pests and reducing the damage they can cause. Birds can block guttering with their nests, which could cause a leak, dislodge roof tiles, and damage wiring. Therefore, you will protect your property from these damages by opting for high-quality bird netting.

Humane

Installing bird netting is a safe and harmless way of controlling your bird problem. This anti-bird solution does not harm the birds but deters them from nesting and roosting on your property. It is crucial to hire a professional bird control expert like the team at Countrywide to install this bird netting, as loose netting or the wrong mesh size could result in birds getting trapped or injuring themselves. Having a reputable installer complete this task ensures it is fitted correctly and safely.

Bird Netting FAQs

  • How much does bird netting cost?

The price for bird netting depends upon a number of factors, including the size of the area, the type of bird and netting required and whether it is domestic or commercial buildings that you are protecting. In addition to installing anti-bird netting, we will endeavour to clean and sanitise the area during the bird netting installation. Our team can provide you with a bespoke quote.

  • How long does bird netting last?

Bird netting is a long-lasting, durable solution to bird pest control, and if maintained correctly, our netting can last up to 10 years. Countrywide only uses netting that is rot-proof and long-lasting. Therefore, the most significant benefit of bird or pigeon netting is the lifespan and longevity of the material. Its longevity makes it one of the most cost-effective solutions to bird pest control.

  • Do you need planning permission for bird netting?

Generally, you won’t need planning permission to install bird netting on your property. For listed buildings or some stone structures, you might need permission to drill into the surface to fit the bird netting.

  • How can you get rid of pigeons nesting under solar panels?

All birds, including pigeons, can situate themselves under or around your solar panels and cause extensive damage to the material and electrical elements. Although bird netting is a great deterrent, the most effective solution would be to install bird mesh around each solar panel. This eliminates the entry points for the birds to nest underneath and helps keep your roof and investment free from guano and nesting material.

If you would like some more information on pigeon-proofing your solar panels, contact us today at 0800 078 7255 for friendly and reliable advice.
